Ch[a]rita / السِّيس is a programme of artistic interventions, conversations, screenings and workshops taking place in public, open-air and indoor space[s] of Marrakech. It is curated by Madrassa Collective and zeitraumexit in partnership with LE 18, as part of SUPERCOPY festival, the first festival of sampling cultures, devoted to the changing relationship between original and copy in art, technology and economy. Ch[a]rita / السِّيس grounds SUPERCOPY’s methodological and conceptual focuses on copying, appropriating, translating and remixing in the socio-cultural and political-economic context of Marrakech. It invites artists from Europe, North Africa and the Middle East to interrogate and reinvent, pin down and explore the present and future of the city’s identity, its history as a carrefour and melting pot in which exchanges happen at multiple levels, producing a city whose identit[ies] are in continuous renegotiation, contamination and transformation.
As a world-wide, untemporal children street game, the ‘ch[a]rita’, or السِّيس, is a series of lines and intersections creating squares, producing spaces and drawing playgrounds even in contexts where they do not actually exist. It adapts to the street, while shaping its function, its functioning. Drawing from its very name, the project playfully explores the complex relationships between the city’s ‘centers’ and its margins, the circulation, transformation and competitive re-appropriation of artistic and cultural practices, and the processes of collective memories institutionalisation, attempting to question and reshape the existing politics of cultural authority. Hence, Ch[a]rita / السِّيس develops a meta-reflection on the role, scope, methods and effects of cultural institutions, while trying to break the prevailing city’s dynamics, to reach new audiences, by playfully appropriating and retranslating cultural forms conventionally perceived as marginal and ‘popular’, therefore often dismissed. While setting its headquarter in LE 18, the programme invests spatial contexts in which ‘contemporary’ art does not often occur.

Ch[a]rita / السِّيس was funded by the Coproduction Fund of the Goethe Institut and in the framework of Change of Scene, a programme of the Robert Bosch Stiftung and the International Theatre Institute. It was also supported by NOMAD, Casablanca Production, Marrakech Riads, LaFT and Baden-Württemberg. It is developed with the complicity of Ana Kanbghi Jemaa el Fna, Dar Bellarj, Marrakech Riads, ESAV, Atelier de l’Observatoire, We Are Museums and Queens Collective.

السِّيس / Ch[a]rita هو برنامج مداخلات فنية، نقاشات، عروض أفلام وورشات في الفضاء العام، المفتوح وحتى الفضاءات الداخلية في مراكش. البرنامج نسقاتو جماعة مدرسة و zeitraumexit بشراكة مع LE 18، في ّإطار مهرجان سوبركوبي (SUPERCOPY)، أول مهرجان ديال ثقافات الشانتيوناج والتجريب، مُكْرَّس للنبش والبحث في العلاقات المتغيرة مابين الأصل والنسخة في الفن، التكنولوجيا والإقتصاد.
تكملة على الخطوة الأولى اللي تدارت ب مانهايم باسمية بازار (Bazar)، السِّيس / Ch[a]rita كايوفر أرضية للتركيز المنهجي والمفاهيمي لسوبر كوبي على أسئلة النسخ، التملك والاستيلاء، الترجمة، المزج والخلط في السياق الاجتماعي،الثقافي، السياسي والاقتصادي بمراكش.
هاذ البرنامج قدم دعوة لعدد من الفنانين من أوروبا، شمال افريقيا والشرق الأوسط باش يساءلو ويبتاكرو وينبشو في حاضر ومستقبل هوية المدينة، تاريخها اللي بحال ملتقى ووعاء انصهار، ديال أشكال تبادل على مستويات متعددة، واللي انتج مدينة بهويتها / هوياتها اللي تتعيش بشكل مستمر التفاوض، العدوى والتحول.
في نطاق واسع، تاتمثل لعبة أطفال لازمنية في الشارع، (ch[a]rita) أو السِّيس سلسة ديال الخطوط، نقط اتصال وتقاطع اللي كاتخلق ساحات، وكاتنتج فضاءات وتولد أرضيات في سياقات اللي غير موجودة فيها.
تاتكيف مع الشارع، في نفس الوقت كاتشكل المَهمّة ديالو و طريقة عملو.
المشروع اللي تْستلهم وتْستنبطْ من السمية، كاينبش، بخْفّة، في العلاقات المعقدة اللي كاتربط « المراكز » ديال المدينة بهوامشها،
التداول، التحول والتنافس في إعادة تملك الممارسات الفنية والثقافية،
وكذلك الصيرورة ديال مأسسة الذاكرة الجماعية، وهنا المشروع كايجي كمحاولة لمساءلة وإعادة تشكيل سياسات السلطة الثقافية الحالية.
كاع المداخلات الفنية، الحوارات ،الأفلام والعروض العامة غادي تبني أنشطة تفكير استقصائي، تأملي على دور، مجال، طرق وتأثير المؤسسات الثقافية.
بالإضافة، السِّيس / Ch[a]rita باغية تكسر الديناميات السائدة في المدينة، في محاولة للوصول لملتقيين وجماهير جداد، وفي نفس الوقت وبسلاسة تاتملك ووتعاود تعطي معاني جديدة لماهو كيبان بشكل عام على أنه هامشي و »شعبي »، واللي عموما كايتترك وكاي يتنبذ.
وبالتالي فالبرنامج اللي المقر ديالو LE 18 ، غادي يحاول يستثمر فواحد المساحة اللي الفن « المعاصر » والممارسات الأدائية عادة ماكاي يتلقاوش فيها.
تّمول السِّيس / Ch[a]rita من الإنتاج المشترك لمعهد غوته وفي إطار « تغيير المشهد » (Change of Scene)، اللي هو برنامج مؤسسة روبيرت بوش و المعهد الدولي للمسرح.
